Fixed term until 30 June 2024. Full-time or part-time role. Generous salary packaging. Employees may be eligible for tax exemptions which can decrease taxable income and increase take home pay! Circle Green is a community legal centre in Western Australia providing state-wide specialist legal services in employment, workplace discrimination, residential tenancy law, family and domestic violence, and humanitarian services aimed at assisting people who are otherwise disadvantaged in their access to legal services. About the role As a Lawyer (unrestricted), you will provide legal advice, further assistance, representation, community legal education and assist in law reform under the supervision of the Principal Lawyer. You will also be involved in the direct supervision and management of restricted lawyers, law graduates, advocates, secondees and volunteers. The Tenancy service at Circle Green Community Legal provides quality legal services to residential tenants across Western Australia that includes a state-wide telephone advice service, further assistance and casework, and duty advocacy service at the Perth Magistrates Court. As the Central Resource Unit of the Tenant Advice and Education Services program, we deliver community legal education and professional development activities for lawyers and tenancy advocates, and lead law reform on behalf of the WA Tenancy Network. About you We are seeking an energetic, confident individual who enjoys a challenge and is interested in making a difference to the lives of the people we work with. This is an exciting opportunity to be working in a unique specialist community legal centre. Key selection criteria Credentials: Law degree. Admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and hold an unrestricted WA practising certificate. Skills and experience: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey complex concepts to people from diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Ability to effectively time manage a high and diverse workload. Ability to work with minimal supervision and be an effective team member. Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice issues Demonstrated problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Experience supervising junior lawyers, graduates, paralegals, students and volunteers. Experience in relevant area of law (desirable).
