“For 75 years, the core ambition of the [Universal Declaration of Human Rights] has been to infuse societies with equality, fundamental freedoms and justice. It enshrines the rights of all human beings and is a global blueprint for international, national, and local laws and policies and the bedrock for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” (OHCHR – https://www.ohchr.org/en/get-involved/campaign/udhr-75)

A statement from our Humanitarian team:

The significance and importance of the UDHR cannot be understated and it calls on us all to ensure that the rights of every person are being met at all times. We continue to be committed to advocating on behalf of our clients to ensure they are able to access legal advice and assistance, access a fair and informed legal process and for that legal process to remain relevant and supportive of the UDHR and its mission.

We strive to uphold the principles of the UDHR in our work so asylum seekers have a fair and humane refugee determination process in Australia. Together with the community and sector, we remain dedicated to advancing the UDHR’s promise of freedom, equality and justice for every client.

“We must stand firm against rising intolerance and build a future of dignity, security, justice & human rights for all.” – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (https://www.un.org/en/observances/human-rights-day)
