“Torturers must never be allowed to get away with their crimes, and systems that enable torture should be dismantled or transformed”- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

26 June marks the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, a day dedicated to uniting in support of people around the world who have been or still are victims of torture.

In 1981, the UN established the UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture (Fund) whereby awards are granted to organisations worldwide for the purpose of delivering direct assistance to victims of torture. The Fund aims to “help victims and their families in rebuilding their lives and to seek redress for the human rights violations they have suffered” – United Nations.

Circle Green is a recipient of the Fund, enabling us to assist victims of torture and actively contribute to the Fund’s mission of supporting victims in seeking justice and in helping victims and their families rebuild their lives. We continue to support the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture and sincerely thank the Fund for its financial contributions.
