Under the federal Sex Discrimination Act 1984 organisations and businesses now have a positive duty to eliminate, as far as possible, sexual and sex-based harassment in connection with work, conduct creating a hostile workplace environment on the ground of sex, workplace discrimination on the ground of sex and related acts of victimisation.

Who is this training for?

This training is suitable for representatives from small-to-medium sized businesses and organisations to attend (such as business owners, senior leaders, and/or senior human resources staff). Please note that due to our capacity and resourcing, we ask that you to nominate a small number of representatives to join a larger session with other organisations and businesses. 

What will I learn?

Learning outcomes include:

• The ability to define and understand workplace sexual harassment and other relevant unlawful conduct;
• An understanding of the impact, causes and risk factors for relevant unlawful conduct;
• An understanding of the Positive Duty, including the four guiding principles and seven standards; and
• Practical information to prepare for developing your framework for action.

 How long is the session?

This session runs for 4 hours, inclusive of a 15-minute break. 

Facilitated session delivery includes:

• A PowerPoint presentation;
• Practice activities and discussions; and
• Work booklets with information on workplace sexual harassment, including useful resources and a framework for action planner for attendees to take away from the session.

Cost

This workshop is free for representatives from select (small and medium-sized) businesses and organisations to attend. Please note that there may be multiple businesses and organisations in attendance at a session.
