Making Modifications

You may be able to make some modifications while you are living in the property. 

There are different types of modifications, including: 

• Minor modifications 

• Furniture safety modifications 

• Security modifications to prevent family violence 

• Major modifications (sometimes referred to as “Other Modifications”)

If you are going to make any modifications to your rental property, you are still required to return the property in as close as possible to the condition it was in when you moved in, minus any fair wear and tear. 

If your landlord agrees that you can leave the modification in the property, make sure to get an acknowledgement of this in writing.
